Classes at Rillington:

Acorn class: EYFS

Nursery and Reception

Welcome to the Acorn class. This is where our Early Years pupils begin their time at school. We welcome children from three years old (in Nursery) to join our inspiring environment where the learning is led by the pupils and we encourage curiosity. Utilising our inviting indoor and outdoor provision areas, we learn through play, taking into account the individual learning styles and needs of each child and building upon our own previous experiences.

Hazel class: LKS2

Year 3 and 4

Hazel class is a calming, spacious classroom where children are given the opportunity to explore and thrive in their learning. As the start of Key Stage 2, we ensure that the children have a range of manipulatives and resources that will support them in the learning within the classroom, they are free to use these when they feel the need to.

Oak class: UKS2

Year 6

Oak Class at Rillington is a warm, inspiring environment where our oldest pupils thrive as responsible role models. They lead by example, showing kindness, maturity, and enthusiasm in everything they do. Through engaging, creative lessons and supportive teaching, children develop confidence, curiosity, and leadership, leaving Rillington ready for new challenges and proud of their achievements.

Willow class: KS1

Year 1 and 2

Our Year 1 and 2 classroom is a wonderful, spacious place where our creativity and learning can flourish. Children can access indoor and outdoor provision spaces to build on learning in the classroom, this encourages children to deepen their knowledge and understanding. Early reading and phonics is at the heart of what we do and we build on skills and foundations from EYFS.

Cherry class: UKS2

Year 5

Our Year 5 classroom is a special place, set in the cosy cabin on the playground. It feels bright, welcoming, and full of energy, with space for learning, creativity, and fun. The cabin gives us a sense of independence, yet we’re always connected to the school. It’s a unique spot where friendships grow and learning really comes alive.

The Orchard

Specialist SEMH space

The Orchard is our Nurture Provision, where every child is supported by a trusted adult in a safe and caring environment. We focus on developing emotional literacy, communication and social skills through positive relationships and tailored activities. The adapted curriculum is designed around each child’s interests, with daily sensory sessions and brain breaks to support regulation. A structured routine and clear boundaries provide consistency and security, helping children to grow in confidence, resilience and independence whilst promoting a strong sense of belonging.
